Ujjain is one of India’s seven sacred cities (Sapta Puri) and home to the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga — one of only twelve Jyotirlingas in India and the only one considered Swayambhu (self-manifested). The Bhasma Aarti at dawn, performed with sacred ash, is a once-in-a-lifetime spiritual experience that draws devotees from across the country. This three-day package makes the journey comfortable: a good hotel, a private cab, and guidance on darshan timings and temple protocols.
Day 1 — Arrival in Ujjain: Pickup from Ujjain or Indore station/airport. Hotel check-in. Evening darshan at Mahakaleshwar Temple — the Sandhya aarti provides a powerful introduction to the temple’s atmosphere.
Day 2 — Bhasma Aarti & Ujjain Sightseeing: Pre-dawn start for the Bhasma Aarti — the most significant ritual at Mahakaleshwar, held between 4 and 6 AM. Advance booking strongly recommended (we assist). Return to the hotel for breakfast. Afternoon: Kal Bhairav Temple, Harsiddhi Temple, Ram Ghat, Sandipani Ashram, and the Shipra River.
Day 3 — Departure: Morning darshan at Mahakaleshwar (second visit if desired). Breakfast and hotel check-out. Drop at Ujjain or Indore.
We assist with the Bhasma Aarti booking process, but slots are allocated by the temple trust and are subject to availability. We begin the process immediately on receipt of your booking and ID. Advance booking (several weeks) is recommended.
Yes. Children are welcome at Mahakaleshwar Temple. The 4 AM aarti timing is early—many families do it in rotations. Let us know your group, and we'll advise on the most practical approach.
Indore Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport is approximately 55 km from Ujjain. Bhopal Airport is approximately 185 km. We arrange pickup from either one.
